As the year is winding down there are still a number of events and volunteer opportunities coming up.  If you are aware of any additional events or activities that you think might be of interest, please let us know.   Here are a few highlights:

May 30, 1:00 pm - Anthony Braxton master class

 

Anthony Braxton, an avant-garde jazz musician and composer, has released over 100 albums since the 1960s.  He utilizes an array of instruments including the flute, saxophones and clarinets.  For more information on Mr. Braxton, here is a link to a Wikipedia bio and to a youtube clip of an avant-garde composition.  Mr. Braxton will be conducting a Master’s Class at CAPA on Friday, May 30 at 1:00 pm.

 

May 31, CAPA 7:00 pm Anthony Braxton/Antithesis

 

Anthony Braxton will be performing with CAPA student avant-garde group Antithesis on Saturday, May 31 at 7:00 pm at CAPA.

 

Lost and Found!

 

Ronna Blumenfeld reports that a few items were left behind at the Pot Luck Dinner – two trays and a ceramic serving dish (I think!).  If you are missing one of these items, they are being held at the Concession Stand.

Proposed Merger of Rogers CAPA Middle School and CAPA High School

 

The Pittsburgh Board of Education continues their consideration of the proposed merger of the Rogers CAPA Middle School with CAPA High. If you are interested in sending an email to your board representative to express your thoughts and concerns regarding the proposed merger we are including a map of the various districts as an attachment to this email message.

 

After determining the representative for your district you can send your email to the boardoffice@pghboe.net address and Robin Wenger – the Board Executive Assistant - will see that it is forwarded to the designated Board Member.

 

The attachment "pittsburgh school district map.jpg" is a detailed district map for the Pittsburgh Board of Education.

 

The attachment "Pgh Board Member Districts.jpg" gives the names of the board members for each district.
